Prestige Auto Sales "Thought for the day"
It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80s arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On examining it I saw it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors and got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while! As she is a victim of Alzheimer's disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she h ad not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?' He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me but I still know who she is.' I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life. True love is neither physical nor romantic.' True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be. Peace is seeing a sunset and knowing who to thank. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have. I hope you share this with someone you care about, I just did. Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain. The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called The Almighty God, you will make it to a place called Success. Pass it on to ten people whom you want to see blessed. Don't forget to send it back to the one who sent it to you.

You have to go through the falling down in order to learn to walk. It helps to know that you can survive it. That's an education in itself. -- Carol Burnett

A child was the inspiration behind the Polaroid instant camera: she was the inventor’s there-year-old daughter. Dr. Edwin H. Land tells it this way: “I recall a sunny day in Santa Fe when my little daughter asked why she could not at one the picture I had just taken of her. As I walked around the charming town, I undertook the tasks of solving the puzzle she had set. Within an hour, the camera, the film and the physical chemistry because so clear to me.” Land founded the Polaroid Corporation in 1937 and headed it until 1982.There is nothing in life that you can't accomplish, if you put your mind to it.

Prestige Auto Sales "Thought for the day"
Many years ago, while watching a little TV on Sunday instead of going to church, I watched a Church in Atlanta vetting one of it's senior pastors who had been retired many years.... He was 92 at that time and I wondered why the Church even bothered to ask the old gentleman to preach at that age. After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, as the applause quieted down, he rose from his high back chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gate to the podium.... Without a note or written paper of any kind, he placed both hands on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he began to speak.. .. 'When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever learned in my 50 odd years of preaching..... I thought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just one thing that made the most difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials. The one thing that I could always rely on when tears and heart break and pain and fear and sorrow paralysed me......
The only thing that would comfort was this verse......... 'Jesus loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong, we are weak but he is strong..... Yes, Jesus loves me... The Bible tells me so'
When he finished, the church was quiet. You actually could hear his foot steps as he shuffled back to his chair. I don't believe I will ever forget it Senior version of Jesus Loves Me. A pastor once stated, 'I always noticed that its was the adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best.' Here is a new version just for us who have white hair, or no hair at all. For us over 40 (or even those almost there) and all you others...
Check out this newest version of 'Jesus Loves Me'. It is quite cute, so read, sing and enjoy:'
JESUS LOVES ME Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow.
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME...
YES, JESUS LOVES ME...
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.
Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go.
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS)
Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He's begun.
Let me serve Christ with a smile,
Go with others the extra mile.
(CHORUS)
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
'Have no fear, for I am near.'
(CHORUS)
When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)
I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.
If you think this is neat, please pass it on to your friends. This is such a good opportunity to
'Reach out and Touch' a friend or a loved one. God Bless Us All !!!

Comments made in the year 1955!
That's only 53 years ago!
'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.00.'
'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2, 000.00 will only buy a used one.'
'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous.
'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?'
'If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.'
'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.'
'Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls.'
'I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL of DAMN in it.'
'I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas .'
'Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President.'
'I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now.'
'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet.'
'It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.'
'Marriage doesn't mean a thing any more, those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat.'
'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.'
'Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress.'
'The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.'
'There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel.'
'No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $35.00 a day in the hospital it's too rich for my blood.'
'If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'
Know any friends who would get a kick out of these, pass this on! Be sure and send it to your kids and grandkids too!

Do the right thing;
Do it today;
Do it with no hope of return or promise of reward;

You spent focused on the current day –
That will not only give value to today,
But will make each future day

Prestige; Tips at the gas pump!
When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three(3)stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping onlow speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return If you are pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money. One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount. Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some f the dirt that normally settles on the bottom. Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.

Apr. 26--BELLEVIEW -- A month after Belleview city commissioners attended a workshop to discuss offering a free wireless, or Wi-Fi, system to businesses and residents, one businessman is ready to assist the city with the cost of exploring that possibility.
Chris M. Spears, owner of Prestige Auto Sales, said Tuesday he will commit to most or all of the $7,500 the city would have to pay the Florida League of Cities to conduct an exploratory study. The study, which is the first of three phases, would gather opinions from residents and community leaders to see if implementing the system is a good idea.

Hummer a Big Hit!
Hospitals across the United States have received donated hundreds of child-sized, HUMMER battery-operated vehicles to their pediatric units. The vehicles are being donated by HUMMER dealerships under a program called "Courageous Kids." The HUMMERs are used by young patients who may "drive" themselves into surgery or for other medical procedures. The goal of Courageous Kids is to help reduce the anxiety that frightened children often experience when undergoing medical treatment.
"We believe this mode of transportation definitely beats a gurney ride and can help take young patients' minds off their fears," said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. To date, hospitals in Michigan, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Washington, and Texas have begun replacing gurney rides with self-driven HUMMER rides in style.
In 2006,the General Motors plant in Shreveport, La., where the HUMMER H3 is built, came up with the idea and made the first donation of two ride-on HUMMERs to the local Sutton Children's Hospital. It was the suggestion of GM Shreveport employee David Burroughs, an environmental engineer. Burroughs was familiar with diversion therapy, a strategy often used at children's hospitals. With diversion therapy medical professionals and volunteers often bring dogs and other pets to visit patients, as the animals having a known therapeutic effect. Additionally, some hospitals use rides in wagons and golf carts to help distract children from worries about their medical procedures. "So I thought why not do the same thing with HUMMERs?" explains Burroughs.
The results have been overwhelmingly positive. According to the Sutton hospital's medical staff, even the most anxious children forgot about their fear of surgery thanks to the excitement of driving a HUMMER to their procedure. "Local surgeons have told us that some kids even require less anesthesia when they ride into surgery in the HUMMERs," said Burroughs. "It's a rather remarkable phenomenon."
Some medical workers and parents have found a ride in the HUMMER toy is a great motivator during recovery as well. "I worked with one patient who used to take thirty minutes to swallow his medications," said Amanda Hays, Child Life manager at the Louisiana State University Health Services facility. "Now he takes them in about five minutes so that he can ride!"
Walsh says the results of a few local donations convinced HUMMER to make the program available to dealerships around the U.S. "Once we heard about these favorable results we knew we needed to quickly expand the program so children's hospitals all around the country could use our toys to put smiles on the faces of their young patients and help lessen the stress and anxiety of their parents, too," noted Walsh. He expects dealerships around the U.S. will soon be making the mini-HUMMER donations to their local hospitals.
Hummers have been a big hit with Mom's and the children who get to ride them in hospitals may turn out to be Hummer fans for Life!

I've missed over 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot... and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. -- Michael Jordan

Now, this is how it's done!
I got to tell you I have bought a lot of cars and seen it all at all the dealers in this area. I have sold my whole life and owned a large business.
You have got it going on! I will be sending you biz!
Jim is sharp he knows his business, Lisa was a sweet heart and Ron has potential to be more then the average car salesman, he needs to listen to some tapes on selling verb-age and as well Set up intro. Hes a great kid. Keep him a way from the guys with bad habits.
Thanks again

Friendly, even when we miss!
I had a great experience at Prestige even though I didn't end up buying there. The main factor was how far away we are from each other. But Jerry was very good to deal with, very helpful, and always followed up with me.
Thanks for being great to everyone who inquires at your business. Most businesses are only that way if they know you are going to purchase a vehicle from them. This will certainly make me think of you next time I look at purchasing another vehicle.
Sincerely-
Lora Davies

8 Great Tips for Women! (And you guys too!)
collected from Ask Patty - with edits from Chris
Prestige Auto Sales knows, women buy more than half of all cars, and influence more than 85 percent of all vehicle purchases. As a woman, you already know that many of the household purchase decisions are in your hands, either by deciding or helping a loved one to decide. Chris Spears the owner of Prestige Auto Sales has always honored women and like many of you it is his wife, mom & grandmother who are his biggest fans. Despite this, Chris knows unfortunately not everyone works that way and typically, women are viewed at a disadvantage during negotiations - but if you're in the market for a vehicle, Chris wants you to arm yourself with the following tips!
Do your homework. The internet is full of information that you can use to your advantage when purchasing a new vehicle. Chris likes Consumer Reports for reliability reports, Carfax or Auto Check for histories, NADA pricing guides for valuations.
Not sure what you want? You can use the Internet to research cars that will best fit your needs, budget and lifestyle. Chris recommends treating yourself well, but not to the point of stressing your budget when picking vehicles.
Already know what you want?Get information on the pricing! Finding out the invoice price (what the dealer paid for the vehicle) and the sticker price (what the dealer wants you to pay) will give you an idea of how much wiggle room you'll have when talking to a salesperson. Chris often helps buyers select from New to pre-owned. Chris says, if you can get the new car for just a couple thousand more I say get the new one, but that first year depreciation can grow to $5000 -$10,000 one has to stop and think!
Research a dealer's website before you visit. Find out whether they have the vehicle you want on the lot. You can also get a great feel for the dealership itself by reviewing its virtual lot. Chris is Leary of dealers who work out warehouses or back lots. I see many of these guys touting savings, but I also see many of them buying junk at auctions. Dealers with real investments in dealerships usually won't jeopardize their business by passing off possible lawsuits.
Looking to trade? Run your vehicle through the Kelly Blue Book calculator (or another online trade appraisal guide) to get an idea of its value. When doing this, be honest about the condition of your vehicle - this is your key to getting a fair value for your trade-in. Chris advises, If time allows selling ones vehicle for retail can put extra money in your pocket. If you stop by my store I'll be happy to tell you the difference between trade-in and retail so you can make the right decision. Trade-ins have a tax benefit and all factors must be considered.
Know your situation.Call your bank or credit union and find out what they can do for you for financing. Get a copy of your credit bureau and find out what your score is. Having these financial aspects already on your mind is helpful when you get ready to finance your vehicle. Chris offers, I'll be happy to do a pre-purchase credit evaluation or you can go to my finance page on this web site for an online application. A payment on a $15,000 vehicle is different for a 720 so verses a 620 beacon.
Ask for recommendations.Ask friends, family and co-workers whether they were satisfied when they bought their last vehicle. This can give you a key to which dealerships are worth your time and which are not. Chris says be Leary of dealers who don't offer warranties or discourage pre-purchase inspections.
Find a dealership that you are comfortable with.Take a walk through the service and parts departments of the dealership you're considering purchasing from, as well as the customer areas and showroom. The actual purchase of the vehicle is a small segment of the vehicle's life - chances are that you'll spend much more time in the customer areas for service and parts! At Prestige all vehicles are inspected and provide a written outline of what is done.
Don't be afraid to shop around. One of the most frustrating aspects of being a female car shopper is when a salesperson spends more time addressing the male friend or family member you brought with you. Similarly, if you are harassed or demeaned by a salesperson, whether directly or not, don't put up with the behavior. You have the right to ask to speak to a manager and request another salesperson. If this fails, or if this isn't an option, find another dealership! Chris says if it's a good deal today it will be a good deal tomorrow. Our customers are always free to come in for an information gathering trip and return later if the vehicle, price and payments make sense to them.
Options and PackagesThese options are a great way to get exactly what you want on a vehicle, but will sometimes add to the purchase price of the vehicle. Know what features you really want, and don't be afraid to decline on the ones you don't. Chris reminds you, This is more true on new vehicles where dealers can adjust prices $2-5,000 with options and scotch-guard type products.
Be involved. If you're trading in a vehicle, ask your salesperson (or the person performing the appraisal) to do a walk-around with you. During this, they will point out any issues they see with your trade (including rust, scratches, spots in the paint, etc.) If you're given a quote for your trade that is vastly different from the value you found through Kelly Blue Book (or another online appraisal guide), it will give you an opening to ask how the figure was arrived at.
Don't feel pressured to purchase on the spot.Frequently, if you finance your purchase through the dealer, they will offer extended warranties, as well as add-on protection plans. Ask how long you have to make a decision for these plans. Many of these plans can be purchased through the dealer up to thirty days after you purchase your vehicle. Take home the paperwork and consider whether this plan will be worth it to you. . Chris says if it's a good deal today it will be a good deal tomorrow. Our customers are always free to come in for an information gathering trip and return later if the vehicle, price and payments make sense to them.
Chris says, if you keep these tips in mind, your next car buying experience should be a breeze. Good luck!

Marion's #1 Independently owned & operated dealer!
Marion county Florida has a new sales leader for retail sales in 2007. For independently owned and operated pre-owned dealers "Prestige Auto Sales" was #1 in retail sales for 2007. The department of motor vehicles tracks sales for all dealers, both new and used, and for Marion county "Prestige" was the only used car, sport utility & truck dealer to surpass 700 sales for the year of 2007. The dealership is owned by Chris Spears who himself is a life-time Marion county resident and who joined the automotive business right out of college in 1985. Prestige has three locations in the Marion county Florida. To tell you a little about our county, according to the US Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,663 square miles, of which, 1,579 square miles of it is land and 84 square miles of it (5.06%) is water. Marion county is about a two hour drive from many of Florida's major cities, Orlando is 90 minutes to the southeast while Daytona Beach is also 90 minutes to the east. Tampa is about 90 minutes to the southwest. Jacksonville is roughly a two hour drive northeast . Miami is about five hours to the southeast as is Fort Lauderdale. We know you can shop anywhere so we take it as an honor when you give us a chance to earn your business. Even thought our sales raking says #1, we know the biggest room in our house is the room for improvement and one of our main goals for 2008 is to improve. Perfection is the goal, excellence will be tolerated. Our goal is not satisfied customers, but raving fans. Thank you for your valuable time
